Wondering about the Houston Science Festival – Scratch Day? See our Frequently Asked Questions below for answers.
The Houston Science Festival - Scratch Day is our way of connecting our vibrant Hispanic culture with interactive science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities for students in grades 5th-12th and their parents. The goal is to help families explore STEM activities and STEM pathways while providing the support they need to succeed.
Be prepared to meet other individuals and communities with a similar interest in these topics as you. Along with a taste of Hispanic cuisine, we will also be providing family-friendly STEM activities such as live demonstrations, a career panel, and multidisciplinary collaborations. Hispanic food will also be available for purchase from vendors.
The Scratch Foundation's mission is to ensure that Scratch and ScratchJr are available for free, for everyone, so that kids around the world can express their ideas through coding. Scratch has become the world’s largest coding community for kids. In 2022, Scratch reached more than 100 million registered users. You can learn more about them at www.scratchfoundation.org.
Thanks to private grants, Bridges to Science is able to bring this science festival experience to students in grades 5-12 from disadvantaged backgrounds. These students, along with their parents, are free to participate in all the activities.
Admission, parking, and participation are all free.
Students will explore STEM activities in a collaborative environment with experienced STEM professionals and inspirational volunteers. Stay tuned for more!
