Overview

Houston Science Festival – Science Week is an 8-day, city-wide celebration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) featuring hands-on community events. Businesses, community organizations, educational institutions, and industry leaders are invited to host activities that inspire curiosity and increase access to STEM experiences—especially for communities with limited resources.

Why Host

Your Role as Host

Hosts plan, staff, and manage all aspects of their event, aligning activities with their organization’s mission. Events can include outdoor science activities, “The Science Behind…” explorations, art/science collaborations, and family-friendly experiments.

Key Guidelines

– Events must focus on STEM and align with your mission.
– Use the festival’s marketing toolkit and hashtag #HoustonScienceFestival.
– Make events public and accessible; free or low-cost is encouraged.
– Avoid overly commercial or unrelated fundraising events.

Festival Support

– Marketing: Online promotion plus a toolkit for your outreach.
– Expert Connections: Access to STEM professionals and volunteers.
– Consultation: Guidance on event planning and feedback.
– Registration Platform: Provided for free events if needed.

How to Participate

1. Propose your event idea via the “Sign Up!” link below by Monday, August 25, 2025.
2. Confirm details and sign the host agreement.
3. Promote your event using the provided Host Toolkit.

Other Ways to Get Involved

– Volunteer at events or assist with logistics.
– Provide STEM experts to support other hosts.
